Thailand Holiday Calendar 2027 (B.E. 2570): Every Holiday of the Year
Thailand’s 2027 (B.E. 2570) holiday calendar has 19 official government holidays, not counting substitution days. Four of them fall on a Saturday or Sunday, so substitution holidays follow on 22 February, 20 July, 25 October and 6 December. Across the year there are 8 long weekends: New Year’s Day, Makha Bucha Day, National Labour Day followed by Coronation Day, Asarnha Bucha Day followed by Buddhist Lent Day, Chulalongkorn Day, Father’s Day, Constitution Day and New Year’s Eve.
Note: The Buddhist year B.E. 2570 corresponds to 2027 CE. The government holiday calendar applies to public agencies. Private companies must set at least 13 traditional holidays per year under Section 29 of the Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541 (1998).

Do Private Companies Have to Follow Every Government Holiday?
No. Private companies can choose traditional holidays that suit their type of business, location and employees’ religions, but they must provide at least 13 days per year, and National Labour Day must be one of them. Employees should therefore check their company’s holiday announcement before booking travel, especially for days when government offices close but many companies stay open, such as Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day, Buddhist Lent Day and substitution holidays.

What Should HR Prepare from the 2027 Holiday Calendar?
Check the working days of each employee group
Office staff, factory workers, retail staff and shift workers may have different weekly days off, so HR needs to check which groups’ days off overlap with each traditional holiday. (Read more: How to plan employee day-off schedules)
Choose at least 13 company holidays
Private-sector holidays must include National Labour Day. The remaining days can be chosen to suit the nature of the business and the traditions of the employees.
Check substitution holidays
If a traditional holiday falls on an employee’s weekly day off, the employee is entitled to a substitution holiday on the next working day. In 2027, five holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday: Makha Bucha Day, National Labour Day, Asarnha Bucha Day, Chulalongkorn Day and Father’s Day. HR should check which substitution day applies to each employee group.
Announce holidays to employees in advance
Announce the holiday calendar before the new year starts and update it in the HR system, so employees can plan their leave, managers can plan staffing, and Payroll can calculate wages consistently.
Set up holidays in the HR system
Once holidays are announced, HR should record them in the system for each company, branch or employee group, so that work schedules, leave, OT requests and wage calculations all use the same calendar.
FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About 2027 Holidays
Are daily-wage employees paid on traditional holidays?
Yes. Daily-wage employees are entitled to wages on the traditional holidays the company announces (at least 13 days per year) and on annual leave of at least 6 days after completing one year of service. For weekly days off, employers are not required to pay daily-wage employees unless the company grants more than the law requires.
How should employees be paid for working on a holiday?
Employees who are already paid for holidays (such as monthly-salaried staff) receive at least 1 times their hourly wage on top. Employees who are not paid for the holiday (such as daily-wage workers working on their weekly day off) receive at least 2 times their hourly wage. Work beyond normal hours on a holiday must be paid as holiday overtime at no less than 3 times the hourly wage, under Sections 62–63. (Read more: Q&A: Can employees work on New Year’s Day, and how is OT calculated?)
Can employees take annual leave next to a long weekend?
Yes, if it is approved under the company’s leave policy. The employer may take staffing and business continuity into account.
Is a Work from Home day considered a holiday?
No. The employee is still working; only the place of work changes from the office to another location permitted by the company.
Can a business that is open every day skip setting holidays?
No. A business that operates every day must still give employees the holidays required by law. It can rotate days off or organise staff into shifts to keep the business running.
