FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About Social Security Registration

Q: Must probationary or temporary employees be registered for social security?

A: Yes. The law considers whether the person is an employee under an employment contract, not whether the probationary period has been completed. Employers must therefore register the employee from the first day of work within 30 days, just like a permanent employee.

Q: If an employer has not yet received a username and password from the Social Security Office, how can the employee be registered within 30 days?

A: While waiting for account approval, the employer may submit Form SSO.1-03 in paper form at the local Social Security Office to meet the 30 -day deadline, then use the online system for subsequent submissions. Employers should therefore register for online transactions before hiring new employees.

Q: How can incorrect registration details, such as the employment start date or medical facility, be corrected?

A: Log in and use the menu for updating insured-person information. If the entry has already been saved and cannot be edited in the system, contact the local Social Security Office where the establishment is registered to request a correction.

Q: If an employee works for multiple employers, must every employer register the employee?

A: Every employer is legally required to register its own employees. Contribution remittance and insured-person benefits in cases involving multiple employers are subject to specific conditions, so employers should consult the Social Security Office before proceeding.

Q: What happens if an employer does not report an employee’s departure after resignation?

A: The system will continue to count that employee as an insured person of the establishment, causing the contribution amount to differ from the actual number of employees. If contributions are underpaid, a surcharge of 2 % per month will apply to the outstanding amount. Employers should therefore report every departure within the required deadline.
